The Schedule

EXPO lasts 12 weeks and is divided into six blocks. Each block lasts two weeks and covers a new skill. Some weeks include EXPO Expert activities. EXPO Expert activities build on your child’s growing abilities by incorporating previously learned skills.

As easy as 1, 2, 3

  • Step 1: Build a foundation

In Block 1, you will work on foundational activities with your child. These activities practice turn-taking, imitation, and sharing fun experiences. The foundation activities are designed to help prepare you for the following blocks.

  • Step 2: Practice through play

In Blocks 2-5, you and your child will practice each of the four executive function skills described above: working memory, inhibition, flexibility, and planning.

  • Step 3: Put it all together

In Block 6, you will work on tying all of the skills together. The EXPO Expert! activities focus on combining multiple skills at the same time.

As expected with any learning experience, some activities will go better than others. For activities to be effective, it is important to always work at your child's skill level and to keep their motivation high. Keeping activities fun will help your child stay engaged and enthusiastic about EXPO activities. Parents like you guided the initial development of EXPO and the activities are designed to be enjoyable for you and your child. Your coach will be a support in helping you determine the best ways to use EXPO. With regular practice, EXPO has the potential to enhance your child’s development.

How to EXPO

  • Play with your child

You can use the activities during playtime or during your daily routines, like bath time, mealtime, or while getting dressed in the morning.

  • Meet with a coach weekly

You will meet with your coach once a week to review your child’s progress. Together, you will discuss any challenges and plan activities for the next week.

  • Record your progress

You will use the EXPO App to record the activities you complete. It’s helpful to write notes each day – particularly of questions or topics you want to discuss with your coach.

  • Stick with it

Beginning new kinds of activities with your child may take time and practice. Some activities might not go as planned. That is okay! Trying out different ideas is an important part of EXPO, and your coach will encourage and support you along the way.

now you know, let’s expo!
